Bukidnon State University greeted the second semester 2023-2024 with a week-long virtual cascading of policies of the university’s four-fold functions: instruction, research, extension and production.
The week-long orientation reiterated the approved academic policies and updated the students on the priority and processes of the university’s key offices.
On Monday, January 15, 2024, Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, University President, led the orientation on the university’s vision, mission, and core values.
“The core values acronym E-P-I-C-C-S stands for excellence, professionalism, integrity, commitment and culture-sensitivity. Understanding these principles is not just a formality, it’s a compass that will help you (students) navigate your academic journey effectively and contributing meaningfully to our collective pursuit of excellence and sustainable development,” Mirasol said.
“BukSU envisions a SMART BukSU: A future-ready university which it will provide innovative ways of working, learning, and teaching in spaces that creatively integrate advanced hardware and software platforms,” she added.
Vice-President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela recapped the updated guidelines on onsite learning in higher education.
BukSU retained the Hyflex Learning System, 75% face-to-face and 25% flexible learning for undergraduate programs instructional time, the same implementation for the graduate programs and the College of Law.
“Amidst the academic rigors, never lose sight of the bigger picture. Transform the challenges into creative solutions. Collaborate during study sessions. Connect with peers during discussions and make sense out of the simplest and the most complex concepts. These are the moments that shape not only your competency but also your character,” VPAA Abejuela inspired.
The Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning presented the BukSULearn, the official learning management system (LMS), on how students can access the LMS making the hybrid flexible learning a success.
The second day of virtual orientation was facilitated by the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance (OVPAF), and the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovations (OVPREI).
Students were provided with updates from the Information and Communications Technology Support (ICTSU) of its main services. Services offered by the ICTSU were: internet services, email services, audio-visual facility reservation, and laboratory use. Policies in the use of BukSU facilities were reiterated to provide quality service for the students.
The Accounting Office presented important reminders for scholars especially those who were qualified of the financial grants.
Merch items from the Economic Enterprise Unit (EEU) were also virtually exhibited via reel.
On day 2 afternoon, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovations cascaded the three-fold functions. The processes, policies, and activities were presented in clusters: research and development, advocacy, and culture.
The mid-week of the virtual university-wide academic orientation was led by the Office of the Vice President for Culture, Arts, Sports and Student Services (OVPCASSS).
The OVPCASSS comprised different units: Culture, Arts and Sports Development Unit,; Student Leadership and Development Unit; Hostel and Dormitories; Student Welfare and Engagement Unit; Guidance and Counselling Services; and Dental Clinic.
