Brief History
The Board of Regents, through Resolution No. 1690, S. 2016, approved the inclusion of “Information and Publication” in the university organizational structure under the Office of the President on March 6, 2016 during the 167th Board Meeting in CHED Office Quezon City.
On April 2, 2018, the university president Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez created the “Information and Publication” function in view of the aspiration of the university to strengthen its public information and publication work.
In the year 2023, the office was renamed the Information Unit under Dr. Joy M. Mirasol’s leadership, in the thrust to improve the university’s branding, media production and information dissemination initiatives.
IU Quality Objectives
- Committed to Quality Assurance as part of the ISO alignment
- Coordinate the public communication efforts of the university and its constituent units and offices for the benefit of its stakeholders.
- Provide up to date/timely and accurate information products (website publication, print publication, radio announcements and digital information products) for effective public communication especially to stakeholders.
- Help in communicating the extension and researches of the university to reach the surrounding communities and the general public.
- Support the university in providing learning opportunities for faculty and staff in documentation and reporting
Processes and Procedures
- Facilitate production of content (news stories, scripts, photos, and videos) for use in multi-media platforms of the university mainly for editorial and institutional aspect.
- Facilitate the production of the BukSU Annual Report in coordination with the Offices of the Vice Presidents.
- Facilitate the production through secretariat services for the broadcast of the weekly BukSU Updates
- Facilitate and serve as Secretariat of the Technical Working Group on Public Affairs and Information Services
- Conduct capability building initiatives to enable BukSU stakeholders to contribute to Buksu.edu.ph and Sayuda publications among other information products.
- Formulate policies for public information and social media use and facilitate implementation on the same in coordination with other offices.
