
The California Academy of Sciences (CAS), Bukidnon State University (BukSU), and Central Mindanao University (CMU) has formally united to a project focused on surveying and documenting bryophytes (mosses and liverworts) found in select sites across Mindanao, Philippines.
On January 16, 2024, the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) happened via virtual meeting with attendance of representatives from CAS, BukSU, and CMU.
SMART BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol was joined by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, Director for Botanical Gardens and Herbarium (BGH) Dr. Lesley C. Lubos, and BGH Technical Assistant Ms. Marites M. Egar.

CMU was represented by its university President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe.
Dr. Shannon Bennett and Mr. James P. Shevock of CAS were in the meeting.
