BukSU commits to quality education through Instructional Materials Evaluation

MALAYBALAY CITY – In its continuous commitment to quality education, Bukidnon State University through the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) spearheaded an in-person multi-sectoral stakeholders’ evaluation of Instructional Materials at the University’s Graduate Studies Lawang Hall on July 5, 2023.

The said evaluation was in collaboration with the Elementary and Secondary Laboratory Schools. The primary objective of this initiative was to identify and assess instructional materials from various publishing companies suitable for utilization in the upcoming academic year 2023-2024 for students at the laboratory schools.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, Vice President for Academic Affairs, emphasized the significance of high-quality instructional materials and the teachers’ role in enhancing student learning experiences. She encouraged the teachers to go beyond a mere page-by-page approach and strive to make the learning process engaging for their students.

Dr. Maricel R. Inovejas, CITL’s Instructional Design and Development Coordinator, delivered the rationale and cited that the instructional materials selected for use in the schools must meet the highest standards of quality and relevance.

“With the right materials at hand, educators can create an enriching learning environment that fosters critical thinking and knowledge retention among students,” she said.

The guest speaker Dr. Vicente San Miguel, a Senior Education Program Specialist- Planning and Research, and an Education Program Specialist II-Human Resource Training and Development, shared his valuable insights on the full implementation of the K to 12-curriculum. His keynote address shed light on the importance of aligning instructional materials with the K to 12-curriculum to optimize student learning outcomes.

A team of content experts and community stakeholders was meticulously selected to assess the materials from various publishing companies and ensure their suitability for the students.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Cecille Marie T. Improgo, CITL Director, highlighted the collaborative efforts of all participants and stakeholders and stressed the importance of continued cooperation between CITL and the Elementary and Secondary Laboratory Schools.

With the successful conduct of the instructional materials evaluation, CITL expressed its profound gratitude and expressed hopes for future collaborations with the Elementary Laboratory School and Secondary Laboratory School. The event served as a testament to the university’s commitment to providing quality education and continually enhancing the learning experience for students.
