BukSU initiates employee mental health awareness with brown bag session

MALAYBALAY CITY – In pursuit of Bukidnon State University’s commitment to fostering a Smart Workforce, the Gender and Development Resource Center, in collaboration with the Guidance and Counselling Services Office and the Human Resource Management Unit, organized a brown bag session focused on promoting mental health awareness among employees on September 25, 2023.

The activity, named “Lalang-lalang Kuy (Let’s Talk): A Brown Bag Session,” aimed to create a secure and confidential space for employees to openly address their mental health concerns. Its goal was to cultivate a culture of well-being and heightened mental health awareness within the organization.

Leading the session was University Guidance Counselor, Dr. Mariza P. Manlagaylay, RGC. She emphasized the significance of this initiative, noting that it provides employees with a vital channel to share their problems and articulate how various factors impact their mental well-being.

The initiative started during the pandemic and was reintroduced in commemoration of the 123rd Civil Service Anniversary.

The session commenced with a simple yet profound question, “Kamusta Ka?” (How are you?), serving as a gentle means of gauging individuals’ well-being. Some members of the university community, including both teaching and non-teaching staff, participated in this activity. This initiative was a testament to BukSU’s dedication to caring for its workforce through a holistic approach as it continues to serve the university with excellence. (Information Unit)
