NLP grants registration for new BukSU IMs

MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) – The National Library of the Philippines (NLP) has granted approval of a batch of creative works while IPOPHIL exam application of utility models from Bukidnon State University.

NLP granted copyright registration for four IMs and a creative work entitled “A Pictorial Cyclopedia of Ornamental Plants”.

Aside from copyright registrations, the university has also applied for the intellectual property rights (utility model) of three technologies.

Based on Goal No. 6 of BukSU’s Enhanced Strategic Development Plan (ESDP), the university should promote production and utilization of research-based innovations, inventions and instructional materials highlighting innovativeness, creativity and cultural sensitivity.

The university’s Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Unit (IPTTU) facilitated the copyright and utility model applications.

The following instructional materials have been granted copyright registration:
1) 21st Century Literacies Across the Curriculum (A Worktext for the Course Building and Enhancing Literacies Across the Curriculum);
2) The Teaching of Mathematics in Primary Grades : instructional modules for Bachelor of Elementary Education Preservice Teachers;

The university created the IPTTU in June 2020 to assist in the application, management, and protection of the intellectual property of the faculty, staffs, students, and external stakeholders.

Intellectual property protection is critical to fostering innovation, which enables individuals to reap the full benefits of their creations and inventions. As the university embraces the culture of innovation, IPTTU has processed applications for copy right/utility model registration from its faculty and personnel.

The IPTTU, in a statement, said BukSU, as a producer of knowledge or hub of innovation, has positioned itself to collaborate with the internal and external creators, industry, businesses, and the community. “It facilitates the transfer of knowledge or technology on specific development areas that directly affects and improve the lives of the people in the community for the realization of its vision to be a premier institution of innovative and ethical leaders for sustainable development.” (Ms. Catherine C. Salvo/IPTTU)
