MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) The donation drive initiated by the National Service Training Program of Bukidnon State University raised around P17,000 for relief goods to be sent to survivors of Typhoon Odette, NSTP coordinator Albert A. Celebran said.
The program initiated the fundraising and relief efforts on December 20, 2021 for typhoon affected families, higher educational institution (HEI) personnel, and students in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette.
The NSTP, true to its motto “to commit and serve,” spearheaded the fund raising drive in solidarity and compliance with the call by CHED to initiaite calamity relief for the survivors of Typhoon Odette.
BukSU President Oscar B. Cabañelez and the BukSU community also supported the initiative. The donations, which came from members of the BukSU Community, were used to buy 200 packs of instant noodles, 170 pieces of canned sardines, 140 pieces of canned beef loaf, 140 pieces of canned corned beef, 260 pieces of bottled water, and 15 boxes of coffee powder sticks.
Also donated were 100 packs of powdered milk and a number of assorted clothes, slippers, and other clothing implements. NSTP staff delivered the relief items to the CHED Regional Office in Cagayan de Oro City on January 4, 2022. (John Ferick Casinabe, IPS Contributor)
