Malaybalay, November 22, 2023 – The PowerED project, aimed at enhancing the competencies of school heads for exemplary educational leadership, marked a significant milestone with its inaugural training session at the Bukidnon State University – ELS Quadrangle. The event, which focused on Data-Driven and Constructively Aligned Assessment for School Administrators, drew participation from 89 School Heads and Administrators representing the 10 Districts in the City of Malaybalay.
Dr. Derren N. Gaylo, Head of the Center for Educational Analytics at Bukidnon State University, served as the resource speaker, bringing a wealth of expertise to the training. His presentation centered on the crucial process of utilizing data to inform assessment practices, guiding participants in developing constructively aligned assessments tailored to their respective schools. The training delved into the intricacies of collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data to make informed assessment decisions, with a keen emphasis on using this information to effectively communicate assessment results to stakeholders.
The resonating sentiment among participants was that the training addressed a critical need in the current educational landscape. As shared by attendees, the relevance of understanding and leveraging data for assessment in educational leadership has never been more pressing. In an era where educational institutions are navigating through complex challenges, the ability to harness data to inform decision-making processes is a vital skill for school leaders.
The PowerED initiative aims to equip school heads and administrators with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate through the evolving educational landscape successfully. The first training session has set the tone for a series of engagements planned over the next three years, spanning 2023 to 2026. This timeline underscores the project’s commitment to fostering a continuous learning environment for educational leaders, ensuring that they are able to stay abreast on the latest trends and methodologies in educational leadership.
