MALAYBALAY CITY – In commemoration of the annually celebrated Nurses Week worldwide, Bukidnon State University College of Nursing celebrated the 1st Nursing Wellness Week on April 24-28, 2023.
The CON Student Body Organization spearheaded the said celebration. The organization came up with this event as they aimed to meet the students’ satisfaction and realize their expectations.
SBO-Governor Sheryl Denn P Bahian said that being a student nurse can be very stressful because learning nursing concepts was not only conducted in the campus but also in a hospital setting while rendering patient care.
“The Wellness Week is a way to de-stress students from mental pressures and demands,” she cited.
The week-long celebration not only worked to promote students’ mental health, but also helped cultivate relationships, student engagement, and camaraderie among BukSU CON learners and instructors while showcasing their skills and creativity.
In relation to this, different activities were conducted such as the Basketball and Volleyball League (men and women category), PinoyLympics, Nursing Henyo, Mob Dance Competition, acquaintance party and Mr. and Ms. Nursing.
Dr. Ma. Algerica T. Cuenco, Dean of the College of Nursing commended the CON-SBO for the success of the week-long celebration. The CON SBO Vice Governor Mr. John Lee Calderon pledged that CON Nursing Wellness Week 2023 would not be the last and that in the years to come they will continue to recognize and respect the talents and overall wellbeing of nursing students.
