Bukidnon State University (BukSU) was recognized during the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) national event, “Ranked & Recognized: A Celebration of Philippine Higher Education Excellence,” held June 24, 2025, at the CHED Auditorium in Quezon City.
The ceremony, hosted by CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, honored higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines listed in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.
BukSU was represented by Joanne Vivien B. Necosia, Director of the Presidential Management Staff, and Joseph L. Gelacio, Program Chair on Global Excellence.
A total of 113 Philippine HEIs were included in the 2025 edition of the rankings, up from two in 2019. According to CHED, this makes the Philippines the most represented country in Asia in the rankings, which assess institutions’ alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
BukSU appeared in the rankings for the first time, falling within the 801–1000 bracket globally. It is also listed among the top four performing HEIs in the Philippines.
“This recognition affirms BukSU’s growing global impact, particularly in areas such as inclusive education, environmental sustainability, and community-centered governance,” said Necosia. “BukSU’s inclusion reflects not only the university’s development efforts aligned with the SDGs but also its dedication to producing research, policies, and programs that uplift communities in Northern Mindanao and beyond.”
Necosia added that with this milestone, BukSU aligns itself with global institutions working toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. (Joanne Vivien B. Necosia and Joseph L. Gelacio)
