MALAYBALAY CITY – Bukidnon State University landed as the Top 1 Performing Nursing School in the country with two topnotchers after the Professional Regulation Commission’s May 2023 Philippine Nurses Licensure Exam posted the result on June 10, 2023.

Mr. Ryan Kenth S. Vallente scoring 90.40% was ranked 6th and Ms. Chesia Earl A. Basinillo scoring 90.20% was ranked 7th. In BukSU, there are 87 examinees and all of them passed the exam conducted on May 28 and 29, 2023, obtaining a 100% passing rate.

The BukSU College of Nursing truly demonstrated quality in instruction in addition to its tagline: “Engaging Hearts, Equipping Minds and Extending Hearts.”

The exceptional caliber of students generated by BukSU CON was evident in the fact that the test-takers not only were prepared as entry-level nurses prior to sitting the board exam but also displayed perseverance and commitment in their year-long review as preparation for the stated exam.

BukSU CON, through the efforts of its faculty headed by former dean, Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, current dean Dr. Ma. Algerica T. Cuenco, the support of its administration headed by the former University President Dr. Oscar B. Cabanelez, current University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, and Vice President for Administration, Planning and Development and the endeavors of its students, brought about consistent praise-worthy results.

This is the 6th consecutive year wherein BukSU garnered a consistently high passing rate in PNLE. BukSU garnered 95.83% in Nov 2018, 100% in Nov 2019, 95% in Nov 2021, 90.48% in May 2022, 100% in Nov 2022. BukSU CON also produced topnotchers in Nov 2021 and May 2022.

Dr. Carina Joanne V. Barroso, former CON Dean and now the University’s Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovations said that her vision for the college– to be the center of excellence in nursing education – could not have been attained without the strong and committed workforce behind it.

She added that the daily contributions, sacrifices, and unwavering dedication of the faculty have brought this vision to life.

The pursuit of maintaining these standards was in the forefront of the College’s priorities so that the main clientele, the students, will take pride of being part of the beloved institution.
