CHED commends BukSU performance

regional quality awards
MALAYBALAY CITY (11 August 2020) The Commission on Higher Education – Region 10 recognized the performance of Bukidnon State University and its officials in two events in July 2020.

CHED-10 awarded certificates of commendation, merit, and recognition to BukSU during the virtual Regional Quality Awards on July 17, 2020 and the Closing Ceremony of the Regional Training on Flexible Learning for Higher Education Faculty on July 30, 2020.

CHED Regional Director Raul C. Alvarez Jr.  presented a Certificate of Commendation to Dr. Oscar B. Cabańelez and BukSU for its contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 initiatives
CHED cited the exemplary, prompt and willingly undertaken initiatives for the benefit of the local frontline service providers and vulnerable stakeholders who were greatly affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CHED cited that it is their grateful acknowledgement of BukSU’s unwavering support to the local government and community in particular and the country in general.

Merit for Centers of Development
CHED also awarded a Certificate of Merit to Dr. Cabańelez and BukSU “in laudable recognition of its potential for excellent performance in the areas of instruction, research and publication, extension and linkages and institutional qualifications. The Commission noted that the performance led BukSU to have its Teacher Education and English Programs designated as Centers of Development (COD) from 2016 to the present.

The Commission also cited that the university served as potent catalyst for world class scholarships, best practices, innovative curricula, research and extension and professional development, “thus contributing to local, regional, and national development” and for the “pride and honor these designations bring to the Northern Mindanao community.

Disaster-Preparedness

CHED also recognized the university’s outstanding and dedicated leadership and for the unwavering support to CHED in pursuit of its mandate in the implementation of the “Observance of the National Disaster Consciousness Month.”

Student Affairs

The Commission also cited the university’s complete submission of Student Affairs Services Reports, for strengthening the engagement of students and for conducting “fitness to purpose” and wide-ranging activities, programs and projects, reflecting its social responsibility commitment to the various communities.

Transition to Flexible Learning

CHED also recognized the role of BukSU in the Commission’s initiative on the Transition to Flexible Learning, to support capacity building for higher education faculty, sharing of human and physical resources, and strengthening the culture of sharing of knowledge and best practices in Region 10.

The university was recognized during the Closing Program of the Regional Training on Flexible Learning on July 30, 2020 as part of CHED’s 26th anniversary celebration.

Dir. Alvarez presented a Certificate of Recognition to Dr. Cabańelez and BukSU for willingly collaborating with other higher education institutions to form the Regional Consortium for Flexible Learning, and for committing to be the lead institution in the Monitoring and Assessment Committee.

He also presented another certificate to Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, BukSU VP for Academic Affairs, for serving actively as a member of the Technical Working Group of the Regional Consortium for Flexible Learning, working collaboratively with TWG members of other institutions.

“This is a manifestation of the Commission’s deep appreciation to BukSU for servicing Region 10, for responding promptly to the call for leadership and solidarity to face the new normal,” and for showing the Bayanihan spirit is alive,” CHED-10 said it its citation.
