Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Lantapan Campus officially broke ground on its long-awaited covered court facility on June 4, 2026, a project funded and supported by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lantapan.
The event commenced with a Pamuhat ritual, a traditional indigenous thanksgiving and blessing ceremony seeking guidance and protection while honoring the community’s cultural heritage.
The ceremony gathered university officials, local government leaders, project contractors, faculty, and students to celebrate a shared commitment to regional educational development.
Mr. Dante S. Victoria Jr., Vice President for Administration and Finance, delivered a message on behalf of BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol. In the address, Mirasol emphasized the university’s priority to provide quality facilities that support student growth and enhance learning environments across its satellite campuses.
Representing Municipal Mayor Ricky James D. Balansag, Mr. Niko Belican reaffirmed the LGU’s commitment to youth development.
Vice Mayor Ernie R. Devibar expressed his support through a representative, stating that the new facility serves as a symbol of belief that every student deserves a place where they can learn, develop their talents, and prepare for their future.
BukSU Lantapan Campus Head Dr. Shella Amor C. Monsanto welcomed guests and expressed gratitude to the LGU and campus stakeholders.
“The covered court has long been a dream of the campus community,” Monsanto said. “It will soon serve as a venue for sports competitions, student assemblies, cultural presentations, academic programs, and other meaningful activities.”
Once completed, the structure is designed to function as a safe, multi-purpose hub aimed at fostering student leadership and active campus engagement.
The symbolic turning of the turf formally signaled the transition into the project’s construction phase.
The ceremony concluded with expressions of optimism from both university and local leaders, framing the project as a milestone in the continuing pursuit of sustainable development and academic excellence for the students of BukSU Lantapan.
