CHED joins the Philippine higher education sector in celebrating ASEAN’s 53rd Founding Anniversary. In line with this auspicious event, the Commission—as it always has annually for the past few years—endeavored to host commemorative activities under the ASEAN Month Celebration Project with the help of our regional offices to continue spreading awareness about ASEAN and what it means to be part of the ASEAN Community. This is also pursuant to Proclamation No. 282 dated 31 July 2018 which declared August as “ASEAN Month.”
Building on Vietnam’s ASEAN Chairmanship theme “Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN” and the current challenges faced by the country and the region due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative aims to be a platform for higher education stakeholders to highlight ideas on how ASEAN’s efforts as a unified regional bloc help its member states address opportunities and challenges globally and regionally, with special focus on the pandemic’s socio-cultural repercussions.
On August 20 2020, 9:00 to 10:00 AM, the Commission will hold the Virtual Kick-Off Ceremony for the 2020 CHED ASEAN Month Celebration via Facebook Live. This event will launch the regional commemorative activities planned by CHED regional offices all over the country. (Source: Commission on Higher Education)
