BukSU’s top management extended their congratulations, challenged the graduates to use their education to impact the region and beyond.

Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, University President, rallied the graduating batch to hold fast to the institution’s foundational identity and core values as they transition into the workforce.

“As you begin a new chapter in your life, may you continue to embody the Dasig spirit, moving forward with courage, resilience, determination, and hope no matter where life takes you,” Mirasol said. “Most importantly, continue to live by the EPICC core values that define our University: Excellence in your work, Professionalism in your actions, Integrity in your decisions, Commitment to your responsibilities and aspirations, and Culture-Sensitivity in respecting the diverse people and communities you will encounter.”

Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), emphasized the systemic training the students underwent to prepare for a competitive global landscape.

“BukSU, through its academic stewards, has equipped you with meaningful and innovative learning experiences to be future-ready,” Abejuela stated. “More than ever, our world needs professionals who are grounded on ethical principles – these our University has instilled in you.”

Focusing on the holistic development that shapes campus life outside the classroom, Dr. Lincoln V. Tan, Vice President for Culture, Arts, Sports and Student Services (VPCASSS), noted the perseverance required to reach the milestone.

“Today marks a defining milestone in your academic journey—a celebration of years of perseverance, sacrifice, discipline, and unwavering commitment to your dreams,” Tan said, adding that his office remains committed to empowering students to become “compassionate leaders, creative thinkers, resilient individuals, and responsible citizens.”

Dante S. Victoria, Jr., Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF), highlighted the communal and relational triumphs that parallel academic success.

“The journey toward your diploma was never easy. Yet amid all the stress and pressure, one of the most beautiful parts of your college life was the friendships you built,” Victoria noted. “The long days in class became lighter because of the people who laughed with you, reviewed with you, encouraged you during difficult times, and reminded you that you were never alone.”

Looking toward the broader external impacts of the university’s graduating classes, Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, Vice President for Research, Extension and International Affairs (VPREI), challenged the cohort to view graduation as a functional starting line for public service.

“I encourage you to remain lifelong learners and catalysts of meaningful change—seeking truth through research, creating impact through innovation, and using your talents to uplift communities and empower future generations,” Barroso said. “Remember that graduation is the beginning of greater opportunities to lead, serve, and inspire.”

At the commencement exercises, all graduates received the BukSU merchandise items consisting of a tote bag, tumbler, and fan. (BukSU – Information Unit)
