The Sangguniang Bayan of Talakag passed Municipal Ordinance No. 025, Series of 2026, on September 15, 2026, establishing a formal framework to integrate academic research from Bukidnon State University (BukSU) Talakag Campus into local governance, legislation, and development planning.
Authored by Municipal Councilor Grace S. Factura, the legislative measure aims to embed evidence-based decision-making into municipal operations by utilizing student and faculty research outputs to address local community needs and development priorities.
Following the passage of the ordinance, BukSU Talakag Campus and the local government unit (LGU) are preparing to execute a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The upcoming agreement will establish operational protocols for identifying relevant academic studies, facilitating information-sharing, and implementing research-backed programs.
The campus administration noted that the partnership reinforces BukSU’s commitment to community extension, demonstrating how academic research can directly support responsive public service and sustainable municipal development. (Teresita C. Agsimon, MBA/ BukSU – Talakag Campus REI Coordinator)
