BukSU Faculty Member Inducted into Prestigious Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society

A faculty member of Bukidnon State University’s College of Arts and Sciences – Natural Sciences Department (CAS-NSD) was inducted as a member of the International Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, University of the Philippines Chapter (Chapter 045), at UP Los Baños on July 30, 2024.

Ms. Aurfeli D. Nietes’ membership in the international society recognizes her academic excellence, strong moral character, and commitment to national service.

Phi Kappa Phi is an international honor society that celebrates academic excellence across all disciplines. It encourages members to engage in service to others while upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. Membership is by invitation only.

Nietes is currently working on her dissertation for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Botany, with a major in Systematics and a cognate in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, at UP Los Baños. Her research focuses on the phylogenetic relationships and classifications of plant species, utilizing advanced molecular techniques.

Her induction not only highlights her individual accomplishments but also reflects the commitment of CAS-NSD to academic excellence and innovation. Nietes’ membership in Phi Kappa Phi is expected to further enhance the department’s reputation and foster greater collaborations within and beyond the university.  (Ma. Thesageen P.
