BukSU signs 23 MOAs, MOUs with partners

MALAYBALAY CITY – Bukidnon State University signed a total of 23 Memoranda of Agreements and Understanding with its partners in extension, community engagement, and research held at the university Mini Theatre on June 14, 2023.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovations, said the signing showed BukSU’s commitment to mutual success with partners, who are pillars also of the institution. She said through collaborations BukSU looked forward to growing stronger.

She emphasized its importance by sharing a parable of two trees – a sturdy, aged oak and a youthful, lively pine – flourishing together despite their contrasting characteristics. In a powerful parable, the significance of collaboration was highlighted, emphasizing the need to utilize individual strengths and abilities for shared success.

Malaybalay City Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran were among local government officials, heads of provincial government offices, provincial offices of national government agencies, and non-government agencies among BukSU’s partners.   

University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol said BukSU and its partners tap collective strengths, share resources, and pool expertise to address issues. She said the collaboration helps ensure that BukSU’s projects and programs were rooted in what the communities need. 

She emphasized the importance of establishing strong connections with different stakeholders, such as government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Dr. Jiemalyn B. Paulican, Extension Director, said the partnerships build sustainable communities and contribute to the welfare of the people of Bukidnon.

She also emphasized the value of collaborative partnerships in achieving genuine progress. She said that by joining forces, BukSU has the potential to develop innovative solutions that can make a positive difference in the lives of students, communities, and the country.

The said MOA/MOU signing was part of the week-long celebration of BukSU’s 99th Foundation and 16th University anniversary. There were 22 Extension Projects and 1 Research Center project signed by 20 distinguished partners from the different local government units, government agencies, and Non-Governmental Organizations during the ceremony.
