Following the two-day assessment and validation on the standards of services set by Bukidnon State University (BukSU), SOCOTEC commended BukSU for its efficient quality management system (QMS) under ISO 9001:2015 Recertification Audit as announced during the closing meeting on August 30, 2024.
BukSU completed the recertification audit held on August 29-30, 2024 in the main campus and Annex Campus A – Casisang.
SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc., a certification solutions provider, conducted an onsite audit and assess the educational services covering undergraduate and graduate studies, research, extension and development, students and administrative services of BukSU.
“BukSU’s initial ISO 9001 certification was granted on August 30, 2017, under the 9001:2008 standard. In line with the evolution of the ISO 9001 standard, the university transitioned to the 9001:2015 version in December 2018. The recent certification was valid until August 29, 2024,” BukSU-Quality Assurance Director Psyche T. Malabo, MCpE shared.
“BukSU became the first SUC (state universities and colleges) in Mindanao to achieve the 9001-2015,” she added.
ISO recertification is granted to an organization to maintain their quality standards, enhance their reputation, improve efficiency, and facilitate growth.
For this year’s recertification, BukSU was commended for its various infrastructure renovation, upgrading of laboratories, and provision of new equipment to provide quality instruction. Also, the auditors commended the improved library services due to the self-check kiosk, which facilitated efficient and accurate book transactions while maintaining security integration with the Destiny LMS and security gate. Lastly, the assessment for each office’s operations and processes were clearly understood by the process owners.
There was no corrective action being identified which means BukSU’s QMS stood for its standards in carrying the services.
SMART BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol delivered the President’s Charge by encouraging the BukSU personnel to embrace a mindset of continuous improvement as BukSU will continue to grow and thrive.
“Let us take these findings as an opportunity to innovate, enhance our processes, and ensure that our services to our stakeholders are of the highest quality. As we progress, I encourage each of us to embrace a mindset of continuous improvement. Let us use the insights gained from this audit to meet and surpass our stakeholders’ expectations. The pursuit of excellence is never-ending, and I am confident that with the passion and commitment of each member of our university, we will continue to grow and thrive,” President Mirasol said.
