
Five hundred sixty-one (561) graduates were recognized on June 19, 2025, as the College of Business and the College of Public Administration and Governance convened their 91st Annual Commencement Exercises at the University Gymnasium. The ceremony centered on the theme “Leading Innovative Pathways through SMART Education.”
The College of Business celebrated with 409 graduates. Among them, 39 students graduated With Honors, including 36 Cum Laude and 3 Magna Cum Laude. From the College of Public Administration and Governance, 152 students graduated, with 4 earning Cum Laude recognition, and 2 Magna Cum Laude.
BukSU President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol addressed the graduating class, highlighting the university’s dedication to providing a supportive learning environment.
Both colleges showcased their accomplishments. The College of Public Administration and Governance celebrated student-athlete successes at the 2025 State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association National Games, bringing home medals in karate (silver, bronze) and Lawn Tennis (bronze). Their Women’s Basketball Team made it to the finals. Students also placed second in the ASEAN 2024 Smart Talk Competition. Both colleges also strengthened international ties through the P2A Hybrid Mobility in Language and Culture program.
The College of Business continues to perform well, producing 20 new Certified Public Accountants and seeing students achieve top ranks in national and international competitions. Notably, 147 Hospitality Management students earned their TESDA NCII in Housekeeping Services.
BukSU’s reach into the community was also evident. The College of Public Administration and Governance’s “Capacitating Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives” project supports local leaders. The College of Business–Hospitality Management’s “PWD Maka Negosyo, PWD Maka Trabaho!” program equips persons with disabilities with livelihood skills. The Business Administration program was also recognized by the Cooperative Development Authority as a certified training provider.
Ivan Rhey B. Tadlas, a Business Administration Major in Financial Management graduate, shared his journey. He spoke of overcoming judgment and burnout, finding strength in proving himself and learning resilience. His time at college helped him become a grounded and driven individual. Tadlas aimed to enter the financial or marketing industry, driven by a desire to uplift others who need opportunity.

Dir. Noemi Rabe-Torres, Director IV of the Civil Service Commission-Region X, offered a closing thought, reminding graduates that “Success is not a straight line, it was more like our Bukidnon roads up there, it’s rough at times, but scenic and worth the ride.” (Genavev Labora, IU Intern)
