The Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) programs of Bukidnon State University’s (BukSU) College of Public Administration and Governance (CPAG) attained Certificates of Program Compliance (COPC) from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Achieving COPCs has several advantages for the university, including enhancing BukSU’s reputation for quality education, attracting more students, boosting faculty morale, and improving institutional efficiency.
“[The COPC} ensures curriculum relevance, guarantees quality education, and increases the program’s long-term viability. In essence, program compliance is a testament to the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and meeting the expectations of students, the government, and the community,” said Dr. Rona Celeste Pasamonte, BukSU- MPA and DPA COPC Lead Coordinator.
In CPAG’s journey for COPC, the programs implemented a comprehensive approach. This included a thorough review and revision of the curriculum to meet CHED Memorandum Order 15 s. 2019 (Policies, Standards, and Guidelines for Graduate Programs) and faculty development initiatives to enhance teaching capabilities. To further strengthen the programs, a series of enhancement workshops was conducted with the participation of external experts and industry partners.
“Collaboration and teamwork were instrumental in achieving COPC. BukSU administrators, faculty, staff, and students worked closely together to identify areas for improvement, develop effective strategies, and implement necessary changes. This collaborative environment fostered a sense of ownership and commitment, leading to the successful attainment of compliance requirements,” Dr. Pasamonte added.
The successful compliance of the MPA and DPA programs is expected to positively impact student outcomes. With an improved curriculum, qualified faculty, and adequate facilities, students can expect enhanced learning experiences. The program’s alignment with industry needs will also equip students with the necessary competencies and skills to succeed in their chosen careers.
“Looking ahead, BukSU aimed to build upon this achievement by pursuing AACCUP Level 4 Accreditation for the MPA and DPA programs. To sustain the quality improvements made for accreditation, the programs will continue to prioritize regular evaluation, faculty development, and student feedback. Strong collaborations with industry and alumni, coupled with monitoring and evaluation, will ensure the programs remain responsive to evolving needs,” Dr. Pasamonte shared. (BukSU-Information Unit)
