BukSU Information Unit holds workshop at Kitaotao Campus

The Information Unit (IU) team of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) visited the Kitaotao Satellite Campus on February 28, 2024, to conduct an orientation and workshop on the importance of publishing timely and relevant information within the BukSU community.

Faculty and staff members of the Kitaotao campus’ student publication, Pangguhuren, along with other student writers, actively participated in the news writing workshop.

Ms. Nova Thirdy E. Agravante, IU’s writer and social media manager, facilitated practical exercises, including identifying the parts of news and structuring cohesive stories. The workshop specifically addressed crafting story leads, bodies, and headlines.

Meanwhile, Mr. John Dale S. Belderol, BukSU’s web development and manager, discussed the significance of sharing stories to broaden the dissemination of campus events by publishing them on the university website and social media platforms.

According to Pangguhuren editor-in-chief (EIC), Ms. Joanna Fe Pahayahay, it has been her dream to leave a legacy of sharing campus stories through the university website.

“I am happy and thankful for this activity that the Information Unit has visited us here. Being the EIC, it is my dream to leave a legacy for my staff and for BukSU Kitaotao that our stories will be available on the web. Last week we attempted to post them on a webpage, but the application required us to pay, and we don’t have the means to pay. It is a relief that Kitaotao campus stories will now have a space on the university website,” Pahayahay said.

Dr. Jessevel Montes, the school paper adviser, expressed gratitude to the Unit and hoped for more activities aimed at refining the various skills of the students.

“Thank you for organizing this event. We are hopeful that there will be more because we really need to help them in their writing and hone their technical writing skills,” Montes said.

BukSU Kitaotao stands as one of the university’s 15 satellite campuses located across Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental. (BukSU-Information Unit)
