COT faculty completes 3-day training workshop on HyFlex Learning Modality

MALAYBALAY CITY- The College of Technologies (COT) faculty completed their three-day training workshop on Hybrid Flexible Learning Modality on March 15-27, 2023.

The said workshop was to equip the faculty in adapting to the new mode of teaching and learning, anchored by its goal to be able to recalibrate their syllabus, assessment tools, and instructional materials.

Dr. Rizza R. Consad, Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) Director and one of the guest speakers, spoke on the importance of objective-based outcomes as the framework in designing the course outcomes and specific learning objectives.

Dr. Elle Christine Melendez, QS Coordinator, shared her expertise in the field of designing assessment tools that help students achieve the expected course outcomes.

Dr. Cecille Marie T. Improgo, Instructional Design and Development Coordinator, has presented the guidelines and of creating instructional materials and lesson planning.

Mr. Gil Nicholas Cagande, College of Technologies faculty, said that the workshop served as an instrument, not only in fixing the syllabus but designing the learning experience of the students to adapt a hybrid setup.

The three-day training workshop ended with the presentation of the faculty’s output in front of the panel, which is expected to be submitted in full details following the completion of this event.

Faculty members from the Automotive Technology Department, Electronics Technology Department, Food Technology Department, Information Technology and Entertainment and Multimedia Communications Department attended the said training workshop.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing Departments of the College of Technologies also conducted their general assembly to discuss the reinstatement of the Retention, Probation, Dismissal, and Readmission policies on March 16, 2023.

The core session included the presentation of the academic calendar for students’ awareness on timelines. The attendance and requirements submission were also discussed along with the in-depth details of the retention policy for the program.

The program has also paved its way to recognize the BSIT and BSEMC students who brought home the pride from the recently concluded MASTS and ASEAN Star 2023 International Competition. The Computer Society (COMSOC) also laid out its accomplishments and plans for the upcoming semester.

Mr. Peter Joseph Rabanes, one of the resource speakers, said that the time we take one step higher is the time we get one challenge accepted. The assembly concluded by distributing its printed agreement forms to be signed by the students and their parents. (Mr. Raul Lecaros/COT)
