BukSU Libona gears up for AACCUP accreditation survey visits

MALAYBALAY CITY – Bukidnon State University Libona Campus gears up for Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines documentary requirements and accreditation survey visits on a two-day seminar-workshop on November 15-16, 2022.

The ACCUUP is a non-profit and non-stock accreditation organization in the Philippines that aims to make the attainment of quality in education an integral part of the higher education systems more particularly among chartered state colleges and universities in the Philippines, through a sustained program of internal and external assessment.

The AACCUP accreditation gives BukSU Libona Campus an opportunity to improve its quality, services, and operations. This accreditation would further benefit the campus’ students, stakeholders, including its faculty and staff.

Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, BukSU Vice-President for Academic Affairs, commendably emphasized in her speech the 4Ps, “Provenance, Purpose, People, and Process” and the STAR, “Synergy, Teamwork, Assistance and Reciprocity.”

She highlighted that these factors are vital in the achievement of the goal, which also made the participants appreciate the essence of the seminar workshop.

Dr. Psyche T. Malabo, the seminar-workshop speaker, has made clear of what are the things to prepare and to expect. This has made the campus’ participants attain a clearer vision to the needed preparations.

Furthermore, the said activity has inspired BukSU Libona Campus to achieve a public certification attaining the standards above those prescribed by government agencies issued by the AACCUP.

This will be the first AACCUP accreditation visit for the satellite campus since they are already done with the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC).

The satellite campus aims to acquire accreditation as it was included in their targets for the year 2023.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Public Administration are the two programs to be accredited for the preliminary survey visit which is expected on January 2023.

On November 17-18, 2022, Libona satellite campus also launched National Book Week 2022 celebration with the theme “Basa. Bayan. Bukas.”

An opening ceremony was conducted to formally launch the National Book Week celebration, attended by the faculty, students, and staff.

The celebration composed of several engaging activities which have tested the students’ wits and creativity as well as unraveled the artists within them. These include quiz bowl, book-spine poetry, design-a-bookmark, my reading nook photo, and on the spot poster making.

In the Philippines, the National Book Week is an annual celebration that runs mostly on the last weeks of November to inspire both reading and literacy as well as paying tribute to the service of the public libraries in the country in promoting the engagement of reading. This year’s celebration aims to divert the youth’s heavy exposure to social media and online games into love for reading. Also, this year’s celebration promotes the resources and services offered by campus library. The students are indeed more than welcome to visit the campus library. (Dr. Neal Bryan L.
