MALAYBALAY CITY – Officer-in-Charge President, Atty. Ryan L. Estevez encouraged BukSU workforce to work in sync as the university officially welcomed him as the OIC President on October 26, 2022.
He said for the band to have a nice tune and music, we all have to work together.
“Just like a band, pag malakas ang ibang instruments (if the other instruments are louder), pangit ang tunog (the sound is unpleasant),” he said in his message during the welcome program held at the university mini theater.
Atty. Estevez’ first job, he said, was singing and playing the keyboard in a band. He mentioned that this is how he wanted to work with BukSU.
Atty. Estevez also cited that it is one way of empowering your people—”to work with the heads and the system.”
In connection, he assured that he will not, in any way, destroy the system of Bukidnon State University.
Atty. Estevez also emphasized the importance of having a work-life balance despite the loads of work that one has.
He said for an educator “teaching is a breath of fresh air.”
Atty. Estevez said he did not hesitate to accept the job when CHED Commissioner Jo Mark Libre asked him if he can be the OIC of BukSU.
“Mapili din po ako pagdating sa mga additional assignments ko (I am choosy when it comes to my additional assignments), but I have no second thoughts because I know BukSU is such a great university,” he said.
He said he is “married to his job” and is willing to work beyond office hours.
“If you need anything, I am just a text and call away,” he added.
Atty. Estevez also acknowledged the contribution of Dr. Oscar B. Cabañelez as a big part of the university. He said he can never replace him as a President. The retirement of Dr. Cabañelez took effect on October 21, 2022 after almost eight years in office.
Mr. Dante S. Victoria Jr, Vice-President for Administration, Planning, and Development also said that the university is pleased to have him as the leader and captain.
“We look forward to building and developing our professional relationship as we navigate towards the future of Bukidnon State University,” he added.
The welcome program was attended by the three Vice-Presidents, Unit Heads, Deans, Associate Deans, Chairpersons, Directors, Chief Administrative Officer, and all Campus-In-Charge held at the university mini theater. After the program, the OIC President met with BukSU top officials in a luncheon meeting. He also did a campus tour and also visited the College of Education Annex Campus. (Diana Rose B. Lagoy/OP-IPS)
