Students from various academic disciplines at Bukidnon State University presented 53 research papers and five proposals during the 14th University-Wide Student Research Competition held May 16, 2025, at the Research and Extension Building and the Library Building.
The annual competition was facilitated by the Research and Development Unit under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovations (OVPREI).
The research entries came from both undergraduate and graduate programs, covering a range of subjects including science, health, education, governance, and business.
University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, represented by Vice President for Administration and Finance Dante S. Victoria, Jr., said in her message during the opening ceremony that having access to data is not enough in a fast-paced information environment.
“Our world needs minds like yours- minds that can organize knowledge, discern truth, and communicate science in ways that inspire action and spark development. That is the essence of research. That is the essence of why we are here,” said Mirasol.
Undergraduate papers were classified into three strands: 21 papers under Science, Health, and Technology; 15 papers under Social Science and Education; and 5 papers under Business and Governance.
In the graduate category, seven research papers from master’s and doctoral students were presented.
A separate pitching competition provided a space for five group studies to articulate their research ideas.
