MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) The BukSU College of Law officially welcomed 27 first year students for the school year 2021-2022 on August 7, 2021.
The Law School Society, led by Ms. Jessica Wu, hosted the virtual event. Judge Ma. Theresa Aban-Camannong, one of the college’s esteemed professors, officially opened the program at 3p.m. Her speech was followed by an introduction to the college, discussion of school policies, and a message from the BukSU COL’s Dean, Dean Sherrymae Velos-Decang. Earlier, organizers held a virtual tour of the College of Law building and introduced the law professors.
Atty. Burt Estrada, the newly appointed Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) National President, was the guest speaker of the orientation. He talked about his experiences both as a law student and as a lawyer. He also imparted nuggets of wisdom that the law students can learn from.
The law school’s academic and non-academic organizations were also introduced to the new students as well as the Socratic method of teaching and learning through an impromptu recitation facilitated by the LSS. Atty. Ophelia Zamora, one of the Law Journal’s faculty advisers, closed the event and reminded the law students to “try and try again.” (College of Law)
