BUKSU EMPLOYEES CELEBRATE 123RD ANNIVERSARY OF PHILIPPINE CIVIL SERVICE

Dressed in their vibrant Mardi Gras-themed attire, employees of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) paraded around the Main Campus to kick off the celebration of the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary on September 20, 2023.

BukSU’s Human Resource Management Unit (HRMU) planned a series of activities for the personnel to participate in, including health and wellness programs, a one-stop shop for government services, sports tournaments, digital and literary competitions, and team dance contests. The celebration will culminate with Employees Night on September 29.

“As a unified BukSU community, we are expressing our gratitude to our esteemed colleagues through these activities, thoughtfully prepared for everyone’s enjoyment, relaxation, and stress relief. These endeavors aim to enhance our personnel’s engagement and appreciation of the organization’s SMART initiatives concerning their well-being, ultimately contributing to increased productivity at work,” remarked Dr. Janne Claudian C. Salvana, the Head of HRMU.

The overarching theme for the Civil Service anniversary is “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes.” This theme mirrors the collective experience of the government workforce in adapting to the new normal and embracing digital transformation and innovation to uphold public service excellence and continuity.

“As we delve deep into the essence of our theme, we embark on a journey of exploration and transformation, uncovering the strategies and skills required to become agile public servants, well-equipped to navigate the complexities of the coming decade,” said Dr. Lincoln V. Tan, the Vice President for Culture, Arts, Sports, and Student Services.

In her message, University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol encouraged the personnel to “embrace new technologies, foster a culture of excellence, and above all, remain dedicated to the principles of integrity, accountability, and transparency.”

“In the next decade and beyond, let us aspire to exceed these expectations and redefine what it means to be a public servant. Let our actions serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding all that the fulfillment of public trust is not just our responsibility but also our privilege,” Dr. Mirasol added.

Through Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, series of 1997, the month of September is designated as Civil Service Month, commemorating the establishment of the Philippine Civil Service on September 19, 1900. (Information Unit)
