MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) Bukidnon State University President Dr. Oscar B. Cabańelez has reiterated in a memoramdum issued on March 20, 2020 cancelling online requirements previously dispatched by the faculty to students.
This as the university suspended classes in all levels since March 16 “until further notice” due to the declaration of national calamity and implementation of community quarantine to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19.
Dr. Cabańelez stressed that the order has been discussed with the deans, program chairpersons and principals on March 13, 2020. The president said the previously released alternative modes of instruction will be complied with as soon as classes resume.
The order also meant those who cannot cope with requirements via online will not be failed, just because of their limitations.
“Please exercise due consideration to students in all levels during these difficult times,” the university president stated in the memo considered “for strict compliance”.
The university considered the difficulty on the part of the students to go online, which requires topping up for load to access data services or be exposed to the virus in internet cafes.
On March 17, Commission on Higher Education Chair J. Prospero E. de Vera III, issued a statement on the use of online/distance learning modes in submitting academic requirements. (OP-Information and Publication Service/BukSU)
