

MALAYBALAY CITY (IPS) Bukidnon State University Elementary Laboratory School pupils have won in a mathematics competition organized by the Metrobank-Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) for the Department of Education Challenge Division Team Finals.
BukSU sent representatives from Grades 1 to 6 to the 20-school competition from the DepEd Division of Malaybalay City. It was held on February 7, 2019 at the Kalasungay Central School.
BukSU pupils Andrea Rainne O. Cortes and Leo E. Tilanduca, Jr. placed second in the Grade 4 level.
Xian Xander Optionar and Enzo Sarmiento placed third for Grade 3. The Grade 5 representatives, Lance Florentino and Julianne Fe M. Rubio, also placed third.
Grade 2 representatives Caseybelle T. Bermudez and Ethan Gellor placed fifth while Grade 6 representatives Matthew Gutierrez and Jovanna Dawne Candelasa also placed fifth.
The Grade 1 representatives were Yassy Bleau Gulmayo and Xian Gregory Ucat.
The coaches and pupils took almost three weeks of review and practice to prepare for the competition. The Brain Teasers Club of the College of Arts and Sciences also helped in the review.
Dr. Elvira B. Sumbalan, ELS school principal, said the performance of the pupils is commendable.
Apart from the MTAP competition, the BukSU ELS also had a successful ran of the English Week Celebration on February 18 to 22, 2019. The school also celebrated the 61st Moving Up Ceremony of the Senior Kindergarten on March 20, 2019 and the 85th Commencement Exercises on March 21, 2019 (Ms. Justine Valene B. Eugenio / BukSU-COE- ELS).
