MALAYBALAY CITY (IPS) After going through the documents for Area 3 (Curriculum), AACCUP accreditors conducted random classroom observations on September 4 for the seven programs that applied for Level 3.

They randomly selected to observe classes in the BS Automotive Technology program under the College of Social Development and Technology and the BS Hospitality and Management and Bachelor in Public Administration (BPA) from the College of Business (COB).

Prof. Meldred F. Samblaceño, one of the accreditors, observed a major classe in the Hospitality and Management Program.

In an interview with Ms. Annie Lea Roxann L. Emata, the department head of the Hospitality and Management program, she said that during the observation, Prof. Samblaceño, checked the course syllabus, seat plan, Instructor’s Load Report and the Teaching Effectiveness.

Documents such as the course syllabus, Emata added, were examined to ascertain the timeliness of the topics covered as reflected. The accreditor also took time to interview students on relevant points required for the accreditation for Level 3. Recommendations and remarks were given by the end of the classroom observations.

Another set of accreditors also visited the BukSU Library to follow-up on the results of the previous accreditation and to give more recommendations for improvement.

library service is considered one of the most crucial features of a university. Essentially, it serves as the treasure trove for books and other relevant references for teachers and students alike. The efficiency of library services and how it caters to the needs of its clients also speaks volumes to the kind of assistance that a University can offer when it comes to the provision of necessary learning materials.

Mr. Camilo Gil P. Gilua, one of the library staff, said the lead accreditor who surveyed the library was Mr. Julius Trases Bacatan. Mr. Gilua cited that the over-all impression of the accreditor towards the university library was good. He also gave recommendations like the installation of air-conditioning units.

Mr. Bacatan started his survey on September 3. On September 4, he interviewed Ms. Chandranie Yves E. Estrada, the supervisor of the BukSU Libraries. His recommendations will serve as basis for future improvements.

Based on the most recent report on the accomplishment of the University library, the University library has upgraded its security measures by installing CCTV cameras in sections of the library that are fully utilized during library hours.

The Integrated Library System is also a new service that gave relative ease to those who would like to search for books for use in their classroom activities.

The University café, the Learning Commons and the Discussion Rooms have also been of great assistance to the faculty and the students. To comply with the recommendation from the previous accreditation survey, the University has also hired five additional library staff to ensure efficiency in the delivery of services.

Another set of accreditors also checked the University Medical Clinic.

Dr. Esther Plaga of MSU-General Santos, one of the accreditors, visited the BukSU Medical Clinic on September 3, 2019 to check on its personnel, facilities and concerns. Prof. Virginia E. Mordeno of Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (AdSSCAT), visited the Medical Clinic on September 4. She checked the medical equipment. (By Jan Daniel E.
