MALAYBALAY CITY (July 16, 2018) The College of Social Development and Technology (CSDT) faculty completed a training session on document analysis for its application for higher level accreditation with the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
The college is submitting to accreditation for AACCUP Level III: Phase 1 in September 2019.
Dr. Maribel G. Valdez, college dean, initiated the training to ensure CSDT prepares ahead of the accreditation visit. It is a CSDT tradition to start preparations way ahead.
Dr. Estela C. Itaas, BukSU vice president for academic affairs, who led the resource persons, stressed on the need to identify and develop “Best Practices” to capture the accreditors’ approval. Best practices, she added, can help other colleges or BukSU as a whole innovate in its processes and outputs.
Dr. Marilyn T. Rubio, head of BukSU’s quality assurance, spoke on the technical aspect of the preparations. She encouraged the CSDT to benchmark on the university’s programs that recently passed Level III accreditation, referring to the Colleges of Business, Arts and Science and Education.
Mr. Jayson Balansag, also of the QA office, gave an orientation on what will happen during the Level III accreditation visit. The QA staff oriented CSDT faculty with the new AACCUP three-parameter format – system, implementation and outcome.
Dr. Rubio expounded on how to, whereto and what to do before and during the accreditation. Trainees were given time to analyse their assigned areas and determine the documents needed for each item. They were also tasked to seek guidance from experts and also input from the faculty and the dean.
Prof. Ma. Celeste C. Unabia, a senior CSDT faculty, said the training was successful and it facilitated for the team to have more in depth understanding on document analysis.
Dr. Rubio said the QA office will also hold similar sessions with other colleges in the run up to their respective AACCUP visits. (IPS with a report from Mr. Jose Benito C. Ronolo of the College of Social Development and Technology)
