MALAYBALAY CITY (July 16, 2018) The Bukidnon State University College of Law has obtained the highest over-all rating in the 2017 Bar Examinations for all state universities and colleges in Mindanao, based on figures released by the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
BukSU –College of Law obtained an over-all rating of 20.51 percent, way ahead of four other state universities and colleges (SUCs) offering law in Mindanao with 31.82 percent rate for first-takers. This is above the national passing rate of 25.55 percent for first-takers.
Next to BukSU were: Mindanao State University, Western Mindanao State University, Sultan Kudarat State University and J.H. Cerilles State College.
In the 2016 Bar examinations, BukSU obtained an over-all rating of 42.86 percent and placed second highest in Mindanao with 66.67 percent passing rate for first-takers. This is also above the national passing rate of 59.06 percent.
In the same year, BukSU placed third highest in the Philippines, based on figures released for first takers in the 2016 Bar examinations.
In an earlier interview, lawyer Gerardo Murillo, Dean of the BukSU College of Law, said BukSU’s over-all performance this year has improved. Seven of the 21 first takers from BukSU have passed while only one of the 14 re-takers made it.
In 2016, 12 graduates from BukSU, including eight first-takers, also passed the bar exams.
BukSU is the only institution in Bukidnon offering Bachelor of Laws degree, which it opened in 2002.
A total of 1,724 passed out of the 6,748 who took last year’s bar exams, or a passing rate of 25.5 percent. (Walter I. Balane/Office of the President- Information and Publication Service with a report from the College of Law)
