Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Director (IPTTU):
- Formulates research plans and policies and ensures the proper implementation of the same;
- Initiate the creation and revision of the University policies, strategies, guidelines and procedures concerning intellectual property;
- Facilitate the preparation of agreements, affidavits, patent application and other documents which are necessary to protect the intellectual property rights of the university;
- Register copyrights and patents with the Intellectual Property Office -Philippines on behalf of the university;
- Recommend appropriate actions for enforcement of intellectual property rights and coordinates with university legal counsel for the filling of appropriate actions and other measures to protect the intellectual property rights of the university;
- Answer queries from faculty, students and staff in matters pertaining to the protection of intellectual property;
- Assist in the evaluation of potential commercial works and assist in technology commercialization activities referred to it by the university;
- Review contracts and other agreements concerning intellectual property matters referred to it by the university,
- Undertake activities in coordination with other units in the university to promote awareness and compliance to intellectual property laws and policies;
- Prepare and execute a system for documenting and tracking university -owned intellectual property;
- Represent the university in intellectual property organization, associations and societies;
- Propose and defend budget related to its function.
- Approve and monitor expenses for activities related to its function.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be prescribed relative to the position.
- Initiates and conduct seminar-workshops on the recent trends in science and technology and new techniques, approaches, and methodologies in and educational research in various disciplines;
- Establishes linkages with public and private, domestic and foreign research agencies and organizations;
- Recommends outstanding researches for recognition by the institution; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the VPREIA and the University President.
