EMC Student Takes Top Spot in CHED-10 ASEAN Poster Contest

A fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing student majoring in Digital Animation Technology at Bukidnon State University won the ASEAN 2026 Digital Poster-Making Contest of the Commission on Higher Education Region 10, which drew 15 entries from higher education institutions across Northern Mindanao.

Margeaux Therese B. Tulang received the award during the CHED Regional 2026 ASEAN Month Culminating Program on August 27, 2026, in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental.

Tulang said she developed her artwork directly from the contest theme, “Setting Sail for ASEAN 2026: NAVIGATING OUR FUTURE, TOGETHER.”

“I represented the ASEAN region as a unified community embarking on a journey toward progress and innovation. At the heart of the poster, I depicted diverse ASEAN individuals aboard a single boat that has the ASEAN logo, symbolizing solidarity as we navigate shared opportunities and challenges together,” she said.

The artwork includes landmarks, modern buildings and cultural structures. According to the description of the entry, these elements represent the region’s heritage, diversity, urban development and commitment to innovation. The composition also includes flowing water and a sailing boat.

“The core message of the artwork is unity, shared vision, and progress. Through the central imagery of a boat navigating open waters, it emphasizes that despite our distinct cultural backgrounds, ASEAN nations are moving forward in the same direction. By standing together, embracing innovation, and honoring our rich heritage, we can confidently navigate future challenges and build a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable region together,” Tulang said.

Tulang said she did not expect to win the competition.

“I was completely surprised, relieved, and deeply proud. I honestly didn’t expect to win because I had my doubts along the way, but seeing my hard work pay off was such a relief. Knowing that all the late nights and effort weren’t in vain, and being able to secure the top spot, makes me immensely proud of what I’ve accomplished,” she said.

Tulang also secured first place in the Digital Poster Challenge for the West Philippine Sea on July 28, 2026, during the celebration of the 10th West Philippine Sea Victory Day. She won the competition with her digital poster titled “Di Ka Pasisiil.”
