The Automotive Technology Department of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) conducted a three-batch technical training program aimed at upskilling the drivers and mechanics of the Provincial Government of Bukidnon (PGB).
The training was held under the extension project “Upskilling Work Productivity through Community Development on Preventive Maintenance Servicing and Diagnostics,” and took place at the BukSU Automotive Technology Department Building across three schedules: June 24–25, July 7–8, and July 14–15, 2026.
The program was designed to improve the technical competencies of government personnel responsible for maintaining the province’s vehicles. It focused on routine preventive maintenance and early detection of vehicle issues to reduce downtime, minimize repair costs, and prevent disruptions in public service delivery.
Participants underwent lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on laboratory exercises. The curriculum covered systematic vehicle inspections, the servicing of major vehicle components, and basic diagnostic procedures for engine management systems and automotive sensors. The sessions also included training on emergency response and roadside problem-solving to improve road safety.
The training is part of BukSU’s ongoing community extension initiatives aimed at partnering with local government units, bridging academic knowledge with industry practice, and supporting workforce development in the province.
Dr. Rene M. Chavez, Project Leader and Head of the Automotive Technology Department, served as the resource speaker. He emphasized that preventive maintenance serves as a proactive strategy to ensure vehicle reliability, extend service life, and protect the safety of drivers and passengers.
