Bukidnon State University–Talakag Campus, in partnership with the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) Regional Office X and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) Cagayan de Oro Branch, held a financial literacy seminar on October 21, 2026, to equip students and faculty with practical money management skills and introduce government investment programs.
Organized by the campus’s Student Body Organizations, the event focused on empowering participants with actionable knowledge on personal budgeting, debt control, and secure investment opportunities, such as Retail Treasury Bonds (RTBs) and Retail Dollar Bonds (RDBs).
The sessions detailed the mandate of the BTr in funding national development through government securities, walking attendees through investment features, yield structures, and digital access channels via authorized financial partners. Presenters also covered key personal finance strategies, including scam identification, prudent credit card use, and the role of bank deposits in long-term stability.
“Financial literacy is essential in fostering responsible financial practices,” said Ms. Marivic L. Seno, OIC Regional Director of BTr–Region X, during her closing message emphasizing the impact of early financial education. (Kharim Angelo R. Alim, BukSU Talakag faculty)
