More than 100 participants joined the BukSU Alumni Pickleball Drive for a Cause on June 12, 2026 at Pyonex RocketSports in Malaybalay City, where alumni, university officials and community partners raised funds for underprivileged undergraduate students of Bukidnon State University.
The event was organized by the BukSU Alumni Relations Unit (ARU) and co-hosted by the BukSU Alumni Association. The fundraiser brought together members of the university’s alumni network, sports enthusiasts and local stakeholders in support of student assistance programs.
Ms. Tita Perla E. Rubio, president of the BukSU Alumni Association, attended the event and participated in the pickleball matches alongside fellow players. Her participation coincided with the association’s involvement in activities designed to encourage alumni engagement while supporting initiatives connected to the BukSU community.
According to Rubio, the event served as a venue for alumni and partners to contribute to a fundraising campaign through recreational sports activities and community participation.
Dr. Lincoln V. Tan, BukSU’s Vice president for Culture, Arts, Sports, and Student Services, was among the guests present during the fundraiser. He expressed support for the initiative and commended the organizers and participants for their collective efforts in helping students overcome financial challenges in pursuing their education.
ARU pointed to increasing interest in pickleball within the region and participation from members of the BukSU alumni network and partner organizations in community-based initiatives.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to provide educational assistance and support services for underprivileged undergraduate students of BukSU.
“As the rallying spirit of service and community echoed throughout the event, the BukSU Alumni Pickleball Drive for a Cause stood as a testament to the University’s core values of excellence, integrity, service, and social responsibility—proving that every serve, rally, and point played can contribute to transforming lives through education,” said ARU Head Katrina Faith M. Melig.
