Six second-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students from Bukidnon State University won the AI Challenge 2026 held via online streaming on March 25 against the University of St. La Salle.
The BukSU team was composed of Daniel James Abobo, Erin Zoe Regalado, Rowell Gerald Gabia, Sharmagne Faith Gamboa, Gwyneth Miasco, and Hazel Ann Carillo.
The competition consisted of three preliminary challenges and one major challenge, where both teams presented their analytical thinking, technical competence, and creativity. Both sides finished with equal scores in the final tally.
Judges conducted a final evaluation to determine the result, which led to BukSU being declared the winner.
The competition also served as a venue for participants to demonstrate the use of artificial intelligence in addressing real-world challenges across industries and professional practice.
“This victory marks the SECOND TIME BukSU has claimed the title, a testament to the growing strength of our students in Artificial Intelligence, innovation, and problem-solving. Our team remained committed to developing solutions that are sustainable, feasible, and innovative—showing that technology is most powerful when it addresses real-world needs,” read BukSU’s IT Department post on its social media page.
