The Bukidnon State University Research and Development Unit conducted the “Research Champion’s Bootcamp: Research Mentorship and Innovation Series” in June 30- July 2, 2025, to strengthen the scholarly writing skills and developing publishable research outputs of faculty researchers, non-teaching personnel, and research champions from the main campus and satellite campuses.
Experts from Global Health Focus University Excellence Dr. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III, Mr. Jerico B. Ogaya, and Mr. Christian Joseph N. Ong led the sessions, providing practical strategies in scientific writing, publication processes, and research mentorship.
“A key highlight of the bootcamp was the presentation of participants’ research outputs, a meaningful step toward BukSU’s goal of producing at least 30 publishable manuscripts,” Ms. Joan M. Recente, Research and Development Unit Director, said.
University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol commended the initiative as a bold step in strengthening BukSU’s capacity to generate knowledge that matters. She expressed appreciation to the participants for their commitment, calling their involvement “a gift to the university and a contribution to nation-building.”
Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation, presented the importance of publishing with purpose and integrity. She encouraged researchers to rise to the challenge of contributing to BukSU’s target of 100 Scopus-indexed publications. “At BukSU, we don’t just aim to publish—we publish smart. We publish with integrity,” she emphasized. (Jessabel Q. Cabada, Head, Research Services Management Staff)
