With mental wellness playing a crucial role in student success, Bukidnon State University-North Cluster hosted a webinar, focusing on strategies for resilience, self-awareness, and emotional regulation, on March 26, 2025.
Titled “Reset, Recharge, Refocus: A Guide to Mental Wellness and Growth,” the event covered psychological, spiritual, and practical approaches to mental health.
The session included discussions from experts in various fields.
Eva Sisles, Bachelor of Public Administration Program Head at the Talakag Campus, spoke about the role of continuous learning in maintaining well-being.
Shayne Penales-Jayo, a licensed professional teacher and registered psychometrician, addressed mental health from a psychological perspective, discussing self-awareness, emotional regulation, and coping mechanisms as key components of wellness.
Pastor Randy A. Caralde explored the relationship between faith and mental health, citing biblical narratives and real-life experiences to explain how spirituality can provide support during difficult times. He also introduced the Prayer-Breathing Technique (PBT), a practice that integrates prayer with mindful breathing to assist individuals in managing stress and maintaining emotional balance.
Students from the North Cluster, which includes the Baungon, Talisayan, Talakag, Alubijid, and Medina campuses, participated in the session. Attendees described the webinar as an informative experience and expressed interest in similar discussions on mental health.
The event aligned with Republic Act No. 11036, or the Mental Health Act of 2018, which promotes mental health education and awareness, particularly in academic institutions.
