MALAYBALAY CITY (OP-IPS) A team from Bukidnon State University has joined a four-month training on Transforming research and development (R&D) outputs into innovations organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Mr. Rene M. Chavez of the College of Technologies is the team’s Technical Lead. Dr. Ma. Teresa G. Salumintao is the team’s Technology Transfer Officer and Dr. Catherine C. Salvo as the Entrepreneurial Lead.
The mentors from the DOST and UPSCALE, a University of the Philippines-based innovation hub, named the group “Auto-Charge” from the utility model of Mr. Chavez on Automatic Voltage Regulator and Integrated Circuit System Device.
DOST-MIMAROPA (Region 4-B) and the Technology Application and Promotion Institute organized the training entitled Transforming R&D Outputs into Innovations through Technopreneurship and Customer Validation.
The series of training, started on January 17, 2022 scheduled every Wednesday and Friday up to April 2022, was created for DOST RICE (Regional Invention Contests and Exhibits) winners to improve entrepreneurial capability and suggests relevant DOST programs to their respective state universities and colleges. The training also assists participants to provide an avenue to link the potential customers or adopters of the technology with the lead inventors.
Expected outputs of the training include Industry Partner Interview, Value Proposition Canvas, Low-Fidelity Minimum Viable Product (Lofi MVP) deck, filled-out iCanvas tool and regulatory pathway to help prepare the inputs in making a capsule proposal.
The BukSU team has been actively participating in the training activities and has accomplished several outstanding outputs, Dr. Salvo said in a statement. She said this is just few of the many innovation programs to be attended by the unit, with the unwavering support of the administration, students, and faculty researchers, and creators.
The innovation culture is embedded in the institutional statements of the university where students, faculty, and innovators are encouraged to engage in creative collaboration. (With a report from Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Unit)
