In line with Republic Act No. 11904, also known as the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA), September has been declared as Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM).
As part of the celebration, Bukidnon State University (BukSU) held a culminating event on September 28, 2024, through a Soil Painting Workshop titled “Art from the Earth,” held at the Bukidnon Studies Center Artists Hub.
With the theme, “We are a Creative Nation,” the event was organized by BukSU’s Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Unit (IPTTU), in collaboration with the Bukidnon Studies Center (BSC) and the Young Artists Club of BukSU-Elementary Laboratory School (BukSU-ELS).
As part of the PCIM Taskforce, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) spearheaded the implementation of the PCIDA by encouraging both public and private higher education institutions to actively engage in the month-long festivities.
BukSU’s celebration featured a creative exhibition, showcasing the works of young artists and promoting art and cultural appreciation within the framework of creative tourism. The event aimed to elevate awareness of the significance of the Philippine creative industries in nation-building and socio-economic development by highlighting their goods, products, and services.
