In line with the implementation of RA 11337, or the Innovative Startup Act, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) 10 – Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Industry Development Bureau (IIDB) held the Raising Awareness and Inspiring the Startup Ecosystem (RAISE) school roadshow to Bukidnon State University main campus on September 4, 2024 at the Learning Commons I, University Library.
“RAISE is a platform that motivates students to offer practical and feasible solutions by creating capstone projects making tangible contributions to our communities and industries. The goal is to familiarize students with the fast-paced world of startups and entrepreneurship,” DICT 10-IIDB said.
Bukidnon State University (BukSU) through the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Unit (IPPTU) and Technology Business Incubator (TBI) Office, facilitated the roadshow by inviting the junior and senior students of BS Food Technology and BS Information Technology.
“By engaging the students, it will definitely ignite their entrepreneurial spirit and equip them with the skills and mindset needed in today’s economy,” said TBI Manager Dr. Nestor Jr. P. Peñalver.
Ms. Elezah May S. Cabahit, Project Development Officer I of IIDB, provided a lesson on the definition, characteristics and types of a startup.
During the roadshow, an activity was conducted where students were divided into groups to generate startup ideas leveraging their skills on technopreneurship. The activity was a promotion and practice for the Regional Pitching Competition for the Startup Challenge with its screening process on October 1-4, 2024.
Winners of the Regional Pitching Competition will be endorsed to the Central Office for the Semi Finals which will be a Table Review and the finalists will be announced on November 11, 2024.
“BukSU has been a strong collaborator with DICT and this event is an excellent platform to showcase our potential in the ICT, entrepreneurship, and innovation,” Dr. Peñalver remarked. (BukSU-Information Unit)
