Drivers from the Provincial Government of Bukidnon participated in a skills enhancement training conducted by the faculty members of Bukidnon State University’s Automotive Technology Department (ATD) on August 8–9, 2024.
The training covered essential skills for routine preventive maintenance, vehicle checkups, and emergency repairs, ensuring efficient, safe, and punctual transportation duties.
“By empowering drivers with the knowledge to properly maintain their vehicles, the program contributes to a safer and more reliable transportation network within the province,” said Dr. Rene Chavez, Chairperson of the ATD.
Additionally, ADT Extension Coordinator Mr. Nicolas S. Carisosa emphasized that proper maintenance not only preserves the vehicle’s condition but also ensures the safe transport of employees, officials, and supplies.
“Before this training, we were afraid to touch the vehicle sensors because we thought they were delicate and might get damaged. But because of this training, we are now more confident and skilled in handling our units. This training is not only beneficial to the government but also to our personal vehicles. I’m also grateful to Dr. Chavez for sharing his knowledge with us,” one participant expressed.
“This proactive approach to vehicle care is intended to ensure that transportation duties are carried out without delays or safety concerns, significantly reducing the risk of vehicle failure during operations. In addition to routine checkups, the training covered basic emergency diagnostics and repairs, equipping drivers to handle unforeseen issues during travel and preparing them to implement emergency plans when necessary,” Dr. Chavez added.
The Provincial Government, through the Provincial Human Resource Management Office, is committed to the project by ensuring logistical support for future trainings. (Nicolas S. Carisosa Jr./ Faculty Member, Automotive Technology Department)
