Bukidnon State University-Elementary Laboratory School (ELS) celebrated the English Month Celebration 2024 from January 19 to February 16 with activities designed to nurture the love for reading and writing among learners while developing their communication and performance skills.
The month-long activities included Quiz Bee, Word Chain Challenge, Poem Recitations, Oratorical Speech and Declamation contests, Story Reading and Telling competition, and English Vocal Solo Competition. During the “English Extravaganza” activity on February 7, each class from Kindergarten to Grade 6 presented various literary performances, such as classic children’s rhymes, jazz chants, verse choir, and interpretative musical plays.
“I really enjoyed the English Month Celebration because English is my favorite subject,” said Grade 1 learner Zeanna Paloma.

During the culmination event on February 19, elementary learners paraded around the main campus wearing costumes inspired by their favorite books and film characters, including Marvel superheroes and Disney characters. Following the parade, the learners participated in the “English Fair” and “Goodies Bonanza.” The fair featured creative literary booths where learners explored and engaged in interactive learning activities, earning themselves delicious treats such as ice cream, muffins, and more.
