BUKSU SSL EQUIPS CANDIDATE SOLDIERS WITH COMPUTER LITERACY SKILLS

MALAYBALAY CITY – The 4th Division Training School (4DTS), under the 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, partnered with Bukidnon State University Secondary School Laboratory (SSL) to equip the candidate soldiers with fundamental computer skills.

The “Computer Literacy Training for Military Students: A Capability Development Project,” which was launched on September 17, 2023, is a series of workshops that are scheduled every weekend until the end of the year. This initiative also serves as an extension project of the SSL.

SSL faculty members facilitated the workshop for the 76 candidate soldiers of 4DTS, covering essential topics such as basic computer operations and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

“Bukidnon State University is firm in its commitment to serve the community, including our military students. In this digital age, no soldier should be left behind. This is the 21st century, and every Filipino, including [the candidate soldiers], should be able to attain essential knowledge, skills, and attitude on basic digital literacy skills,” said SSL Department Head, Ms. Desiree A. Barroso.

According to the 4DTS, computer competencies not only enhance the soldiers’ individual capabilities but also contribute to the overall efficiency, effectiveness, and readiness of the military.

“With the whole-of-the-nation approach of the government, we really need the support of the stakeholders in order for the soldiers to become more professional in attaining our mission, which is the sustainment of peace and security, especially in Bukidnon,” said 4DTS Commander, LTC. Manuel B. Estanilla. Since 2009, the SSL and 4DTS collaborated on various literacy projects, demonstrating BukSU’s commitment to effectively and efficiently deliver practical, relevant, and responsive programs to improve the quality of life within the community.
