DAVAO CITY – Bukidnon State University President Dr. Joy M. Mirasol signed the Mindanao Declaration on Excellence and Equity in Public Higher Education with other SUC presidents.
Dr. Mirasol led university officials and other representatives in the 1st University of the Philippines and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) Summit in Dusit Thani Grand Ballroom here on September 15, 2023. Dr. Mirasol, with Ms. Joanne Vivien B. Necosia, attended the investiture ceremonies of new UP President Atty. Angelo A. Jimenez on September 14 in the UP Mindanao Campus in Mintal, Davao City.
Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, VP for Research, Extension, and Innovations, led the OVPREI team in engaging in networking and preliminary meetings with concerned SUCs in the areas of research, extension, and innovations during the summit.
BukSU joined 60 other state universities and colleges (SUCs) in agreeing to work with the UP System for stronger and more effective sharing of expertise, resources, and opportunities in a five-point declaration as an outcome of the Pagtutulay, Pagtutuloy – Strengthening Partnerships in Philippine Public Higher Education.
Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, President of Batangas State University and President of Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and J. Prospero E. De Vera III, Chair of the Commission on Higher Education, were among those who spoke during the summit.
Presentations during the summit included both UP-initiated and SUCs -initiated academic, research, and publics service collaborations. Among the opportunities for collaboration offered by UP included UP Data Commons, Philippine Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), among others.
VP Barroso tagged along Ms. Joan Recente (Research Director), Dr. Ma. Teresa G. Salumintao (IPTTU Director), Dr. Zeny L. Maureal (Head, Center for Mathematical Innovations), Ms. Loraine Mae A. Ańasco (Head, Center for Local Governance), and Mr. Walter I. Balane (Head, Center for Peace Studies). The team met with potential UP and SUC collaborators.
