SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. initiated a two-day ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) 2nd Surveillance Audit at Bukidnon State University (BukSU) on August 19, 2026, to evaluate the university’s operational processes, academic standards, and institutional compliance.
Leading the external audit team is Lead Auditor Ms. Ma. Janica Verlaine V. Despuig, alongside auditor Mr. Richard.
“When we plant a seed, we need to nurture it for it to grow… For almost nine years, we have nurtured that seed,” Dr. Mirasol stated. “Continuous improvement means accepting that no matter how much we have grown, there is always room to grow better.”
Mirasol encouraged the university community to embrace the audit through the acronym GROW—standing for Gratitude, Resilience, Openness, and Wisdom.
The two-day audit covers various academic programs and support services across the university. On August 19, the review focuses on top management context, library operations, graduate programs, research and extension services, guidance and counseling, international affairs, general services, ICT, and equipment calibration at the Main Campus and Casisang Annex. On August 20, the audit covers undergraduate and College of Law degree programs, along with internal quality audit mechanisms, document control systems, and management review processes.
ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard for Quality Management Systems that provides organizations with requirements for managing processes, meeting applicable requirements and pursuing continuous improvement. For educational institutions, the standard can cover academic and administrative processes as well as support services.
BukSU has maintained its ISO certification since obtaining ISO 9001:2008 certification in August 2017 before transitioning to ISO 9001:2015 in 2018. (BukSU – Information Unit)
