Overview
BS Environmental Science uses a generalist approach in science, wherein it covers a broad scale of environmental concerns. It is aimed to study the interactions between the environment and human activities in an interdisciplinary way. The BS ES program is specifically designed to improve the intersection between human activities/culture and environment, making use of various disciplines such as life and physical sciences, social sciences, ethics, relative to which ever science is needed in a particular environmental issue. Key problems in the province of Bukidnon such as (community-based) watershed and resource management and the role of heritage and culture in sustainable development will be tackled in the program. Hence, the area of concentration is on Environmental Heritage Studies.
Program Outcomes
- Demonstrate higher level of comprehension through analytical and contextual immersion in the core areas of environmental science.
- Apply innovative thinking skills in applying the concepts and domains pertaining to sound environmental protection, conservation, utilization and management to effectively address environmental challenges through protection, conservation, and sustainable management practices.
- Demonstrate the capability to collaborate in initiatives for the protection and management of Bukidnon natural heritage through shared concerns, research and innovative solutions in each locality which can be replicated in other regions as well.
- Demonstrate innovative leadership and critical thinking skills using environmental science concepts and principles in solving environmental issues in the local, regional and global context; and
- Practice ethical leadership in formulating and implementing appropriate environmental conservation strategies, practices and innovations for the sustainable development of the country.
